Job responsibilities
The Research Officer's main job responsibilities are as follows:
- Conduct research on the mandates, policies, programmes, and activities of government ministries and state machineries;
- Collect information from official documents, government publications, reports, media sources, and public databases;
- Track relevant policy developments, legislative actions, and administrative measures;
- Analyse the extent at which the ministries are fulfilling their legal mandates, policy commitments, and public obligations;
- Identify gaps between commitments and implementation of the state machineries;
- Prepare periodic research and policy briefs, and analytical summaries daily or per the instruction of the Project Coordinator and Project Manager;
- Produce evidence-based content for the project’s website, reports, and advocacy materials and collaborate with Media and Advocacy Officer for content creation following consultation with Project Coordinator;
- Work closely with the Media and Advocacy Officer to translate research findings into public updates and accessible content
- Support the Project Manager and Coordinator with research inputs for project planning and reporting with the Weekly and Bi-monthly reports;
- Maintain organised records of research sources and datasets with proper references.
Requirements
Educational Requirements
Master’s degree in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Development Studies, Economics, or other relevant social science disciplines.

Professional Requirements
Strong research and analytical skills;
Good command over current affairs and political situation of Bangladesh, and global politics;
Ability to review and interpret laws, policies, and government documents;
Proficient academic writing and editing skills;
Proficient command over verbal, reading and writing English Language;
Ability to work with different types of data-sets, including qualitative and documentary sources.
