Course Overview:
As part of the Tech, Law, and Society Series, we are proud to introduce the inaugural certificate course: “Fundamentals of Information Technology Law: Theory & Practice.” This course offers a comprehensive and engaging journey through the core principles of Information Technology Law, blending legal theory with real-world application. Participants will begin with core concepts—including the legal foundations of IT law and a technical understanding of how the internet works—before exploring key domains such as data protection, e-commerce regulation, digital contracts, cybersecurity, and digital rights. The curriculum also addresses contemporary challenges posed by social media, hate speech, online content moderation, and intellectual property in a digital environment. Designed for students, early-career professionals, and legal enthusiasts, this course emphasizes both conceptual understanding and practical skills—enabling participants to analyse legal issues, draft relevant documents, and apply legal principles effectively in digital environments.

Understand the foundational knowledge of Information Technology Law in national and global contexts.

Course Duration and Structure:

This 7-week course comprises 14 sessions—two per week, with one focused on theory and the other on practical application—each lasting 2 hours.
To maximize learning outcomes, participants are expected to dedicate an additional 2 hours a week prior to the sessions, for pre-session preparation. This includes reading assigned materials, viewing recommended media, and group tasks.

Methodology:
​The is course adopts an interactive, learner-focused methodology that blends legal theory with practical application. Each week consists of two sessions—one theoretical and one practical—designed to build both conceptual understanding and hands-on skills. Participants will engage with diverse learning materials, including academic texts, case laws, infographics, and recommended media. Practical sessions involve simulations, drafting exercises, case studies, and group discussions to foster real-world legal analysis and application.

Collaborative learning is encouraged through group tasks and debates on emerging tech law issues. Assessments include quizzes, written reflections, and project-based evaluations, with feedback provided throughout. Active participation is required for successful course completion. This methodology ensures a dynamic and comprehensive learning experience, equipping participants to navigate legal challenges in today’s digital landscape confidently.

Certification:
The course includes formal assessments. Participants who attend all sessions and actively engage in course activities will be considered to have successfully completed the course and will receive a certificate of completion. Additionally, based on overall performance and assessment criteria, one participant will be selected for the ‘Best Participant’ award and will receive a prize.

Application Process:
Eligible applicants are invited to submit an online application via a Google Form, where they will be asked to provide necessary information and upload their interest for application. ​ <Application Link>
Course Fees:
Individuals: All individual participants are required to pay a course fee of 8,000 BDT.
Groups: We are offering group discounts for our participants:
- A reduction of 2,000 BDT for a group of three participants - 6,000 BDT each group member
- A reduction of 2,500 BDT for a group of five participants - 5,500 BDT each group member
provided all group members are admitted to the course together.
​In order to avail the group discounts, a contact person from the group is first urged to email us with the following details at mapofjustice@gmail.com: 1. How many members in the Group application; 2. Name of all the members; 3. Email addresses of all the members.
The contact person will then be sent a Group Code. The group members shall then proceed as per the regular procedure in filling up the application and use the Group Code therein.
